Untrail

Find hidden tags as you travel

Untrail checks for unknown Bluetooth trackers that may be travelling with you. It helps you find the tag, keep a factual record on your iPhone and decide what to do next.

Coming soon on the App Store

For iPhone and iPad with iOS 18 or later. In English and Vietnamese.

What Untrail does

Your iPhone already alerts you to many unknown items on the Apple Find My network. Untrail adds other tracker families and the trips those alerts don’t cover, and it tells you plainly what it can’t see.

  • Room/Car Sweep

Check nearby Bluetooth signals while the app is open. Likely trackers are grouped by family – Tile, Samsung SmartTag, Chipolo, Apple Find My network or a generic Bluetooth tag – and each result has a confidence label, so a guess never looks like a fact. A sweep doesn’t need your location.

  • Locate this tag

Move towards a tag with a five-step signal ladder and optional haptics and audio ticks, plus a list of places worth checking in cars, bags and rooms. Readings are approximate: walls and your own body change the signal.

  • Journey Guard

Start a guarded trip before you drive, ride or walk. With the standard settings, Untrail flags a supported tag seen at 3 or more places at least 200 m apart over 10 minutes or more. A status-only Live Activity keeps the trip on your Lock Screen. Free trips last up to 2 hours.

  • Evidence Report

Create a PDF with sighting times, approximate areas, your notes and photos you add. Each report explains what the data does and doesn’t show: a sighting is not proof of who placed a tag or why. You decide whether and with whom to share it.

  • What now?

Calm playbooks for each tracker family: what to check, how to keep a record, battery guidance, when it may be safer not to disable a tag, and regional emergency information. They are general information, not professional or legal advice.

  • Discreet mode

Neutral notification wording, an optional neutral app icon, a Face ID or passcode lock, and Quick exit. It reduces what is visible on your iPhone, but it can’t hide every trace.

  • Arrival Check

A quick sweep when you get somewhere – a hotel room, a rental car pick-up, home. Start it yourself at any time, or set an optional arrival reminder for a place you save.

Also included: Trusted Tags, so tags you know don’t raise alerts; a Home Screen widget; Control Center controls; and Siri and Shortcuts actions.

Private by design

  • No ads, no analytics, no account and no third-party SDKs.
  • The app makes no network requests of its own. We don’t collect your data.
  • Trip history stays on your iPhone. You choose how long it is kept – 30 days unless you change it – and you can delete it at any time.
  • Sweeps need Bluetooth only. Location is used for Journey Guard and for places you save.

What Untrail can’t do

  • No scanner sees every tracker. Untrail can’t detect tags that are silent or switched off, GPS or cellular trackers, or hidden cameras and microphones.
  • Journey Guard watches for Tile, Samsung SmartTag, Chipolo and some generic Bluetooth tags. Apple Find My network items appear in sweeps while the app is open; in the background, your iPhone’s own alerts cover them.
  • Untrail doesn’t contact the police or anyone else for you.

Untrail is not an emergency service. If you are in danger, call your local emergency number.
